The post of president and the prime minster are no go zones for Somali people in south west state of Somalia on the basis of discrimination and tribalism

Despite no one is born discriminating another person because of his clan or origin, however, the successive Somali government way back to 1960 and until at present impose discrimination to Somali people in south west Somalia. During election times in Somalia, the post of president and the prime minster are not allowed to be context for any one originate from  south west state of Somalia as they considered  as second class citizens if not third class citizens. They are considered by default as inferior in contrast with the rest of Somalia.  It is worth tom mention, you will hardly see anyone of them has the ambition to context the post of president and the prime minster being no go zone for them. Some people have the ambition to become nation leaders, but this is not true in the case of anyone who originates from south west state of Somalia.

Why some people has ambitious and others have not. What causes people to be ambitious, and what is the advantage when we think of ambitious people, we think of dreamers. These are the people with hopes of one day conquering and ruling their countries, but this is not true in the case of anyone from in south west state of Somalia. Ambition means a strong desire to attain success in real life. An ambition is an eager, and sometimes an inordinate, desire for preferment, honour, superiority, power, or the attainment of something. To obtain object or goal that is immensely desired. We are told never to cross a bridge until we come to it, but this world is owned by men who have ‘crossed bridges’ in their imagination ahead of the rest. Without an ambition we have no purpose in our lives. In contrast, a goal can help us get organized and take steps towards achieving what we want in our day-to-day lives.

If wishes were horses, everyone would like to ride. In fact, many of the wishes of the people die in their budding stage. Still man cannot give up ambitions.  Ambition gives us a sense of direction in life. A person without any ambition is like a boat without rudder. Having an ambition needs continuous efforts towards achieving it. One cannot achieve anything if one just day dreams and does nothing. Ambition is the best quality anyone can have, until we crossed the line of chasing a dream and just being obsessed. No one is born with the ambition that makes you obsessed with your goals and dreams in life. A strong will-power and determination will carry a person forward against all obstacles. Different people have different ambitions. Some aim to become teachers, soldiers, artists, politicians, doctors, engineers etc. Some try to amass wealth and some run after the name and fame. There are others who aim to serve humanity. One should have a noble aim in life and strive hard honestly, sincerely and with dedication to achieve it.

A person with an ambition should not be dependent upon circumstances. He should move ahead facing all the odds and difficulties that hinder his progress. He should have the firm determination to achieve his aim. His will-power and determination will carry him forward. Obstacles in his way will not lead him astray. Different people have different ambitions in life. The nature of ambition varies from persons to person. It depends upon one’s family background, upbringing, social status and economic condition. Man is master of his destiny. Some people aim for wealth. They desire to amass wealth by any means. There are also people who aim to become political leaders. A statesman aims to carrying thought great schemes for his country’s advancement. There are some who aim to become soldiers and serve the country. Some people choose the film and television careers. One who succeeds gets both wealth and fame.

They are the least educated in contrast with the rest of Somalis .According to Plato, education is the turning of the inner eye towards light. There are two kinds of men in this world, men of thought and men of action. Thinks like the men of thought, act like the men of action.” Our actions are preceded by our thoughts. We are judged only by our ambitions. Ambition is the motive power behind powerful people who, in turn, move other people, organizations, countries, and the whole world. Ambitious people are the ones who really determine the way the world will look tomorrow and where the history will turn. Ambition is the power behind any kind of progress and change. They are politically discriminated by the main stream Somalis.

Discrimination means treating a person unfairly because of who they are or because they possess certain characteristics. If you have been treated differently from other people only because of who you are or because you possess certain characteristics, you may have been discriminated against. Discrimination is a social disease that can affect a person both physically and emotionally. Discrimination can make a working place a living hell. Different types of discrimination have been a societal issue for several decades. With the implementation of new laws to protect potential victims, the problem is addressed to a certain degree, but still it happens frequently resulting in devastating effects. Discrimination is not visible to everyone, but mostly visible to the discriminator and the victim.

Discrimination begins in the mind and it is only when we intentionally base our decisions on these prejudices that are wrong. The fight against discrimination has been an ongoing process and in order for us to continue the battle against discrimination, we must understand the different types of discrimination that exists, what causes discrimination, and what can we do to stop it. Discrimination is associated with prejudice. Prejudices are caused when one group thinks they are better than another because they lack the qualities that are similar to a certain group. The definition of discrimination is the denial of opportunity or equal rights for a specific group of people that may be differentiated by things such as their religion, colour of skin, or gender.  The world we live in has been struggling with this sensitive subject for as long as we have recorded.

Prejudicial attitude occurs when we prejudge a person, good or bad, on the basis that the stereotypes associated with the person or group being prejudged are true. Discrimination is the combination of the terms mentioned above, but involves actually acting out with unfair treatment, directing the action towards the person or group. Prejudice and discrimination do not just occur racially, but it is found among gender, religion, culture, and geographical background.  Prejudice is a result of attitude and discrimination is a result of action. The mentioned characterization refers to a situation of the direct discrimination, in which a person is treated adversely directly on the basis of a prohibited ground. Indirect discrimination, refers to a situation in which an apparently neutral provision or practice is discriminatory in its effects.

Discrimination produces immense effects in the psychological, social, political, and economic domains. Whether intended or not, the effects are compounded by the loss of self-worth, a sense of alienation from the wider society, political dis-empowerment, and economic inequalities. Prejudice and ethnic hostilities constitute a major danger to peace both within a nation and among nations. The effects of discrimination in society are reflecting clan, race, and religion. Victims of discrimination cope with these experiences in a variety of ways..Discrimination leads to disunity which results in the dissolving of society, through strife and war. Discrimination runs against the most fundamental values of a modern society. In fact, it is a threat to democracy, which is predicated on the idea of a society in which arbitrary hierarchies and preferences.

Democracy recognizes worth and equal rights of all whereby, equality prohibits discrimination which is also the cornerstone of human rights. Therefore, discrimination is wrong because it is selfish. Discrimination throughout the world today occurs to many extremes. From one extreme to another, it is in any way wrong. Discrimination is happening all over the world, today for many reasons. To sum up, the discrimination can cause many problems. Discrimination is a real and distressing problem that continues to exist in modern day society. A sociological term that describes the attitudes and treatments adopted by members of mainstream society towards persons of specific groups on the sole basis of group or category, it is often translated into harmful and diminishing behavior by members of the dominant group towards other groups. Discriminatory behavior on the other hand, whilst occurring in many forms, essentially involves some type of rejection or exclusion for members of specific groups. The government should constitute laws to avoid it, and society should also set up some organizations, programs or communities to help build a better plateau rid of discrimination. In short, the absence of unity and ambition made south west people of Somalia fertile ground to be discriminated.

They also tribally. targeted. For most people in western countries, Africa immediately calls up the word “tribe.” The idea of tribe is ingrained, powerful, and expected. We identify ourselves as members of all sorts of tribes; our families, political parties, gender and, social organizations. We even identify tribally just based on where we live. The term “tribe” has no consistent meaning. It carries misleading historical and cultural assumptions. It blocks accurate views of realities. Tribalism is pervasive, and it controls a lot of our behaviour, readily overriding reason. Tribalism felt us our tribe is better than other tribes of same country. Tribalism has replaced nationalism for large portion of Somali people. In Somalia, politics and tribalism have strong links. Tribalism is destructive.

The holy Qura’n says: “O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and we made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you). In other words, Allah almighty made us different tribes or clans to know each other and not discriminate each other. Many experts of Somali affairs, tribalism and clan-based rivalry are what led to the collapse of the state in Somalia in January 1991 and to the inability of Somalis to end their ruinous civil war and forming unity based government. In short, in the presences of injustice, discrimination and tribalism, nationalism, reconciliation and unity in Somalia is like an attempt to build castle in the air which mean mid day dream or impossible attempt.

Those who dream to unit Somaliland with Somalia like Farmaajo have been affected by day light dream or busy an impossible attempt.  They live an impossible dream that never be materlised. Somaliland will not join those who discriminate each other. Somaliland people have determined having their future in hands and not like the hands of farmajo and his so called government that did not even represents a fraction of Somali people. Farmajo has to    realise the reality in the ground that proves Somaliland has split Somalia in May 18, 1991, the day our people gained back their lost independences. Crocodile tears will not influence Somaliland to join the chaos of Somalia. Crocodile tears (or superficial sympathy) are a false, insincere display of emotion such as a hypocrite crying fake tears of grief. When someone feigns sadness they ‘cry crocodile tears,’ a phrase that comes from an old myth that the animals cry while eating. During liberation struggle, thousands were massacred, their lands and livelihoods pillaged beyond recognition.  18 May is a day of mixed feelings and celebrations pleasure through across Somaliland. Somaliland is proud the achievement gained since reclaimed independence from Somalia.

May 18, 1991, after the collapse of the central government in Somalia in the Somali Civil War, Somaliland has asserted its independence as separate state from rest of Somalia. Somaliland peace and democracy based on solid foundations and has a special place in the political developments in Africa, particularly in the Horn. Ever since Somaliland has reclaimed independence in 1991 from rest of Somalia, Somaliland has been experiencing, peace, stability, democracy and economic prosperity. On this day Somaliland commemorates the beginning of new nation after achieving its independence as separate state from rest of Somalia. The day is marked with speeches fostering unity and peace, hoisting of flag, signing of national anthem and colourful police parade. A special ceremony holds in presidential palace annually to mark the day.

As a de facto state, Somaliland has “embarked on a home-grown process of ‘bottom-up’ reconciliation and state-building, largely escaping the pressures of foreign intervention. This has served Somaliland well, because, unlike the southern regions of the failed Somalia, which are still in the grips of violence and instability, Somaliland has achieved a semblance of stability and peace. Behind every shining performance, there were immeasurable hours of practice and preparation. In conclusion, Mid-day dream from Somalia has no impact to four million Somalilanders. Mr. Farmajo, please get up from your day light dreams as nothing better to face the reality surrounding you. Mr. Farmajo, blindness wishes does not serve any purpose and impossible to gain being like an attempt to build palace in  the air
